Our Story
Luckily, my partner Bec is also a foodie, so we have spent 13 years eating our way around the globe. With regular visits to the iconic Glastonbury festival – a foodie heaven in itself.
Marshmallows started out of pure curiosity “I wonder if I can make them at home?”. In 2017 we bought our first house and organised a summer housewarming. I made a batch of vanilla mallows that went down a storm over the fire pit – the taste texture and caramalisation of a homemade marshmallow is in a league of its own, you just can not compare it to a store -bought bag.
In October 2018 we became parents to our daughter Florence, so as you can imagine spare time all but disappeared as we spent every minute of our days obsessing over her!
2019, friends Lora and Dave asked if I would make marshmallows for their festival wedding of 250 guests. This is when I started experimenting with flavours, it was a huge task, with a full time job and a baby – our little kitchen just couldn’t cope either… I swore I’d never make another mallow again!
The pandemic hit and I lost my job as a chef, Bec started working from home. During this time we began going to forest school where at the end of each session we’d sit round a fire pit and toast marshmallows - I just had to let everyone try proper homemade marshmallows!
Word was out I was making them again everyone wanted some, once again the feedback was awesome.
2022, Florence is 3, at daycare a couple days a week and I have spent 5 years perfecting different recipes and refining a mallow making technique that produces the softest, fluffiest cloud-like marshmallow out there. I wanted to find a job that fit around family, rather than the other way round. Working for myself was the only way to go. With supportive parents and keys to a small premises Mallowdramatic was born.
